Welcome to Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS), an educational haven nestled on the shores of Egret Island where Eastern and Western wisdom converge. As Xiamen’s first school for children of foreign nationals approved by the Ministry of Education, we have upheld our founding aspiration of “building a bridge for Sino‑foreign educational and cultural exchanges” over the past three decades, witnessing diverse civilizations meet, understand and integrate here. Greetings to all!

I am Li Ruoqing, Chinese Principal of Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS). Standing on this mountain-fringed, seaside campus adjacent to Xiamen University, I often reflect on the founding vision of our school back in 1993: to build a school for children of foreign nationals, overseas Chinese, and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residing in Xiamen, one that aligns with global education standards while staying rooted in Chinese culture. Thirty years have passed, yet this founding aspiration remains unchanged and has grown even clearer amid the tides of time. The essence of education is to empower every child to embrace the world with courage and capability on the foundation of cultural identity.

As an international school deeply rooted in Xiamen, we firmly believe that “cultural confidence is the bedrock of a global perspective”. At MXIS, Chinese is far more than a subject; it serves as a vehicle for cultural heritage. From the fragrance of ink in calligraphy classes to folk activities celebrating traditional festivals, from reciting and reflecting on Chinese classics to field trips exploring Minnan culture, we hope every student can comprehend the profound wisdom of the East and consolidate their cultural confidence through bilingual immersion. Meanwhile, we uphold the philosophy of holistic education, embedding our student development goals of “ambitious aspirations, noble morality, physical and mental well-being, and profound knowledge” into daily practice. In classrooms, we encourage students to question and explore; on campus, we advocate mutual support and inclusiveness; within the wider community, we guide students to engage in community service.

Over the past thirty years, MXIS has educated students from 36 countries and regions. With the spirit of “Each flourishes in its own beauty, and all thrive together in harmony”, they have proceeded to top universities across the globe. This achievement is made possible by an educational ecosystem built on the joint efforts of home and school. I am Wu Meide, Foreign Principal of Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS). It is my great honor to introduce to you our vibrant learning community, where global vision and academic excellence shine side by side, and every child is empowered to become a responsible global citizen.

As an authorized World School of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), MXIS consistently upholds the highest standards of international education. We have established a coherent PreK‑12 curriculum system spanning preschool to senior high school. Our core goal is to foster students’ critical thinking, creativity and cross-cultural collaboration skills. In classrooms, we adopt inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to raise questions boldly, collaborate in investigations and innovate courageously. Beyond class hours, we offer a wide array of programmes including ESL support courses, academic competitions, sports, arts and community service, so that every child’s unique potential can be fully nurtured.
