Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) was founded in 1993. It is a non-profit independent international school approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and registered and accredited by the Department of Education of the Philippines. As the first school for children of foreign nationals in Xiamen, it is committed to building a bridge for educational and cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
The school was initiated and founded by the Manila Xiamen Education Foundation. Its establishment arose from the urgent demand for international education resources amid the development of the Xiamen Special Economic Zone. At its inception, with support from the Xiamen Municipal Government and Xiamen University, the school adopted the core tenet of “serving children of foreign nationals, aligning with global education standards, and inheriting the roots of Chinese culture”. It provides internationally standardized basic education for children of foreign nationals investing and working in China, and builds a growth platform integrating Eastern and Western cultural immersion for the children of overseas Chinese, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Located at No. 735 Longhushan Road, Zengcuo’an, Siming District, Xiamen, the school is adjacent to Xiamen University. Mr. Yang Madai, the school’s chairman, has been awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of Xiamen”. Ms. Wu Meide, the school principal, has received the “Friendship Award for Foreign Experts” of the People’s Republic of China, and multiple teachers have been honored with Xiamen’s “Egret Friendship Award” for foreign experts.
